Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, clicking “I agree,” or using OryanApp (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and by our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Refund & Cancellation Policy, each of which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms are a binding agreement between you (“you,” the “user”) and OryanApp (“OryanApp,” “we,” “us”).

2. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age required to use the Service under applicable law. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian where applicable law requires it; in that case, your parent or legal guardian accepts these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Service. By using OryanApp you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. You may sign in with an email and password or with your Google account; your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google’s terms.

4. User Content and Uploads

  • You are solely responsible for all content, files, data, prompts, and materials you upload, create, or generate through the Service (“User Content”).
  • You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to your User Content, and that it does not violate any law or third-party right (including copyright, privacy, or IP rights).
  • You must not upload content that is illegal, infringing, malicious, harmful, or that you have no right to share.
  • License to operate: you retain ownership of your User Content. You grant OryanApp a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, process, and display your User Content solely to operate, maintain, and provide the Service to you — including transmitting it to the third-party infrastructure and AI providers listed in Section 10 as needed to deliver features you request. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual backup copies as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Model training is separate and opt-in: the license above does not permit us to use your User Content to train or improve models. We do that only if you switch on the model-training opt-in, which is off by default and can be turned off again at any time in Settings. While it is on, you grant us an additional license to use your User Content for that purpose; turning it off ends that additional license going forward.
  • Export, presentation, and distribution are your responsibility: your User Content is stored privately — we do not publish it, and it is not accessible to anyone else through the Service. When you export, download, print, present, publish, or otherwise share a presentation, poster, or file you created here, you do so outside the Service, and you are solely responsible for that content and for how it is distributed and used. That includes holding any permissions, licenses, or clearances needed for the images, text, data, citations, and AI-generated material it contains, and complying with the rules of any venue, publisher, journal, or institution you submit it to. AI-generated material carries the accuracy caveats in Section 11 — verify it before you present or publish it.

5. File Storage, Deletion, and Retention

  • Your files are stored using cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) and associated databases.
  • You may delete your files at any time through the Service.
  • Deleting a file removes it from storage immediately; residual copies of database records may persist briefly in routine backups and are overwritten as those backups age out, as set out in the Privacy Policy.
  • If you delete your account, your account, projects, uploaded files, and consent records are permanently removed from our active systems and cannot be recovered by you or by us — subject only to the routine backup copies described above, which age out and are not restorable to your account. Use Settings → Your data → Export my data to download anything you wish to keep before deleting.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose; (b) upload malware or attempt to breach, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure; (c) reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or copy any part of the Service except as permitted by law; (d) resell or provide the Service to third parties without authorization; (e) infringe others’ rights; (f) attempt to circumvent usage limits, security, or access controls; or (g) use the Service to generate content that is illegal or harmful.

7. Service Availability, Maintenance, and Changes

The Service may occasionally be unavailable, interrupted, or delayed. We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance at any time, with or without notice. We may add, modify, suspend, or remove features at our discretion, and we may impose or change usage limits. We do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available.

8. Payments and Subscriptions

OryanApp does not currently offer paid plans. We do not collect payment details from you and we do not charge you for the Service. If and when paid plans are introduced, they will be billed through Stripe, and we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy before that happens.

The following will apply once paid plans are available: by subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel; fees are stated at purchase and may change with notice for future billing periods; except where required by law, payments are non-refundable; failure to pay may result in suspension or termination of access; and you are responsible for any applicable taxes. Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

9. Termination and Suspension

We may suspend or terminate your account or access, in whole or in part, with or without notice, including for:

  • fraud
  • abuse (of the Service, other users, or our systems)
  • payment failure
  • illegal activity
  • violation of these Terms or our policies

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. liability limits, disclaimers, IP, indemnity, dispute resolution) will survive.

10. Third-Party Services

OryanApp is built on and integrates third-party services to function. These may include, among others:

  • Google (sign-in with Google / OAuth)
  • Anthropic and Zhipu AI (Z.ai) — AI processing of content you submit when using AI-powered features.
  • Crossref and OpenAlex (open citation databases queried when you search for a reference)
  • Cloudflare R2 (file storage)
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless usage analytics)
  • Neon (database)
  • Vercel (hosting/deployment)
  • Resend (transactional email)
  • Upstash (Redis — rate limiting / abuse prevention)
  • Stripe (payments — only if and when paid plans are introduced)
  • and other similar infrastructure providers.

Your use of the Service may involve transmitting your data to these providers as needed to deliver features. Each provider has its own terms and privacy practices, which govern their handling of data. We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, availability, or content of third-party services.

11. AI Features and Accuracy

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate outputs. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for your purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it. Do not rely on AI outputs for legal, medical, financial, or other professional decisions. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy of AI outputs.

12. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Service and its components are owned by OryanApp or its licensors, including but not limited to the OryanApp name, logo, user interface (UI), icons, templates, animations, and code. No rights are granted to you except the limited right to use the Service under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service, its branding, or its design without our prior written permission.

13. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them freely without obligation or compensation to you.

14. Warranty Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR COMPLETELY ACCURATE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ORYANAPP, ITS OWNERS, TEAM, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY:

  • data loss
  • business interruption
  • lost profits or revenue
  • inaccuracies in AI-generated output
  • damages arising from user misuse of the Service

WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE THREE (3) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) USD 50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OryanApp and its team from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use or misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

17. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the version and “Last updated” date and may require you to re-accept before continuing to use the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Dispute Resolution

Talk to us first. If you have a dispute or complaint about the Service, please contact us at oryansupport@gmail.com before starting any formal proceedings, and describe the problem and the outcome you are looking for. We will acknowledge your message and try in good faith to resolve the matter with you directly. Most issues are resolved this way, and it is faster for both of us than any formal process.

If we cannot resolve the matter within 30 days of your first contact, either of us may pursue the dispute before a court of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country in which you live, and nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief to protect its intellectual property or security.

19. General

  • Severability: if any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Refund & Cancellation Policy, are the entire agreement between us and supersede any prior understanding on their subject matter.
  • No waiver: our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
  • Assignment: you may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure: we are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
